Installation

farmIT is designed to be installed by the User. There are three steps to the installation.
1. Install the farmIT cloudLink
2. Link your sensors to the farmIT network
3. Install your farmIT sensors

Step 1: Install the farmIT cloudLink: Install the cloudLink indoors within range of your WiFi router and ideally near a window. Simply use your phones bluetooth function to connect the cloudLink with your WiFi network. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

Step 2: Link your sensors to the farmIT application: Watch this video for detailed instructions on how to link sensors to the farmIT application. You can then create a shortcut icon on your phone for quick access to the farmIT app. Watch this video for how to create the shortcut.

Step 3: Install your farmIT sensors: Below you will find detailed video instruction on how to install each type of farmIT sensor. Remember to make sure that each sensor is within clear line-of-sight of at least one other sensor or the cloudLink .

troughIT (metal lid)
Use your fingernail to open the hatches on each side of the sensor lid. Loosen the screws inside using a philips head screwdriver then align the brackets on the bottom of the sensor with the slot in the metal lid. Rotate each bracket 90 degrees and then tighted the screws until the sensor is held firmly against the metal lid. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

troughIT (concrete lid)
Use your fingernail to open the hatches on each side of the sensor box. Pass the screws through the two holes and then slide the non-threaded aluminium brackets up the screw. Place the assembly on the tank lid and then screw on the threaded bottom brackets from the underside of the lid. Tighten firmly. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

tankIT (corrugated steel tank)
Use a step drill or holesaw to drill a 20-25mm hole in the lid of the tank on the top of one of the corrugations. Pass the sensor through the hole and into the tank until it reaches the bottom. Secure the mounting bracket to the tank using the supplied self-tapping screws. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

tankIT (poly tank)
Use a step drill or holesaw to drill a 20-25mm hole in the lid of the tank. Lower the sensor through the hole until it reaches the bottom of the tank. Using your fingernail open the hatches on each end of the the sensor box and drill a 2mm pilot hole then secure with screws. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

rainIT
The rain gauge sensor is designed to be mounted inside a tipping bucket rain gauge. The installation process requires removal of the rain gauge cover and wiring the connectors to the contacts within the gauge unit. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

fuelIT
Identify a suitable access point at the top of the diesel tank and determine the thread size. The sensor cable comes standard with a 2″ BSP threaded cap, but different size caps and thread may be ordered. Loosen the cable gland on the cap then pass the cable into the tank until the sensor reaches the bottom. Screw the cap down firmly and then tighted the cable gland. Using the bracket supplied mount the sensor box onto a suitable fitting on the tank. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

tempIT
Mount the tempIT unit on top of a galvanised steel pole using cable ties and pass the cable down the pole securing it as you go. Leave approximately 20cm of cable at the end of the pole with the sensor unit attached. Bury the sensor in the ground at an appropriate depth – 5cm for paddocks to be sown, 10cm for established pastures and 20cm for sub soil temperature information. Watch this video for detailed instructions.

fridgeIT
Simply place the sensor unit in the fridge or freezer.
